It’s not a good start to the week when you’re on live TV and a blender erupts all over you, is it? Especially when it's cold cauliflower soup.
Viewers watched on amused as James Martin ended up covered in soup as the kitchen appliance exploded all over the work surface, the floor and the chef.
This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were in pieces laughing. Phil joked: "You're having a really good day, aren't you? Oh James."
The 48-year-old top chef posted a picture of the cauliflower fiasco on social media and wrote: "Note to self...cauliflower soup gets everywhere, even the Christmas trees behind Holly and Phil oooooppppps."
Viewers commented in their droves and wrote: "During the first lockdown we had John Torode setting a tea towel on fire.
"During the second lockdown we’ve had James Martin failing to put a lid on a blender properly with soup going everywhere."
Another added: "James was hilarious cooking. Just goes to show that even the best can make a mess of cooking."
One wrote: "I can’t stop laughing at James Martin cooking cauliflower soup and cheese straws. Just the medicine I needed. Brilliant, thank you James."
Phillip also added fuel to the cauliflower-scented fire and told him that the topping on his soup looked like a ‘skid mark’.
The host teased him: "In the top of this soup that I've pretty much eaten there was a brown skid mark."
James barked: "Do you know I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning to come here?!"
Give the man a break. And a wet wipe.
James Martin appeared as a guest on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky in September. You can hear him talking about what goes on behind-the-scenes of his Saturday morning show below:
