Good news for Star Wars fans, Disney announces plans for 10 Star Wars series

You wait for ages for Star Wars news and then you get 10 at once! As part of Disney's major announcements last night including Pixar, Marvel and Disney releases, it was revealed they have plans for 10 new Star Wars projects.

Some of the biggest news that received the most excitement from fans was the announcement that Hayden Christensen – who played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels – is returning to play Darth Vader in the upcoming miniseries. It also stars Ewan McGregor.

Space smuggler Lando Calrissia is getting his own series, and Donald Glover will reprise his role, after first appearing in the 2018 origins movie Solo: A Star Wars Story.

 Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy made the hugely exciting announcement that the new Star Wars film, will be directed by Patty Jenkins. If that name is familiar, it's because she directed to rave reviews, and the new sequel The Rogue Squadron reveal is the first time a female director has overseen one of the franchise films.

Jenkins posted a video on Twitter, explaining she had long wanted to make a film about a fighter pilot.  Her late father was one, and he died when she was seven. The film is due for release in Christmas 2023.
