It's the show that everyone's talking about, so it comes as no surprise to find that Bridgerton has been a record-breaking smash hit for Netflix.

The Regency drama has it all - scandal, romance, drama, a diverse cast. Since the release on Christmas Day, the series has been number one in 76 countries around the world.

Created by Shonda Rhimes, Netflix is rightly proud of the performance so far. They have confirmed that Bridgerton is expected to reach more than 63 million households within four weeks.

If so, it would be the fifth-biggest original series to date on the streaming platform.

Members of the cast of Bridgerton have been celebrating on social media.

Some are taking the stats with a pinch of salt though, as Netflix counts anyone who watches at least two minutes of a programme as a viewer. If someone watched the first two minutes of Bridgerton, they would still be logged as a viewer for that episode.

Fans of the series are desperate for a second season to be confirmed.
