As far as plans go, it's an attention-grabbing one. A candidate for governor in Japan has decided to dress up as the Joker.
It's certainly different.
The politician in question is Yuusuke Kawai.
His political party also has an unusual name. He's a representative of the Party to Make All of Chiba a Land of Dreams and Magic.
He's now in the running to replace Chiba Prefecture governor Kensaku Morita.
So what are Yuusuke's policies? Well, he wants to build a Tokyo Tower in Chiba, rename Narita Airport as Disney Sky, and make hit song the prefecture’s theme song.
Politics could do with more Disney themes, to be honest.
He also wants to rename Makuhari Station as Makuhari Messe Isn’t Here Station.
In a bold campaign move, he has now created a music video. In it, he is filmed parading around Tokyo while dressed as the Joker. As you do.
Kawai told “Since the clown is kind of a dark hero, I had this impression that I could get the support of the masses.”
Last year, it was reported that Joaquin Phoenix has been offered $50 million (£36 million) to repeat his role as Arthur Fleck / Joker for two potential sequels.
We're pretty sure Yuusuke would do it for cheaper.
