Want to know how to keep your home nice and toasty for longer without spending anymore money? Yes, please. A new study has revealed we are all likely to be flicking the heating switch off this Sunday 14th March.

Heating pros Utility Bidder said: "There’s no specific temperature at which you should be turning off your heating, as it will depend on how well insulated your home is (and what your ideal temperature is!).

"Better insulated homes will be able to keep warm even when temperatures are low into the early spring, but every home will be different.

"The most effective way to control your heating is to use a room thermostat that is set between 18 and 21°C.

"With many of us spending more time at home, you may have had the heating on more than previous years over the winter, and may be keen to switch off the heat early this spring, in order to save some pennies.

"With lots of us working and living in our houses still, our heating, light and energy bills are likely to remain higher this spring, and so there are a few things you can do to help keep your home warm, and save money on your energy bills..."

Here are their top tips on how to keep your crib cosy and save some cash...

Bleed your radiators

An easy DIY job which costs nothing, it'll save you coins by improving their efficiency.

Close your curtains

Keep peeping Toms away plus the heating inside the room instead of leaving through the windows.

Don’t cover radiators

Don't block the air flow - even if they do make a handy clothes dryer.

Don't leave your heating on low all day

The heating experts said: "A widely debated topic is the idea that it’s cheaper to leave your heating on low all day however, this is a myth.

"In the long run, only having your heating on when you need it is the best way to save you energy and therefore money."

Don’t block radiators with furniture

It's not a good idea if you put a huge sofa infront. Just like us, they need their own space.

British Thermal Units

Calculate your BTU requirements if you buy a new radiator so you can keep check of your heating and spending.

Pick a right plan for you

Like partners, choose carefully and don't get into any unwanted contracts. Consider how much energy you use, the type of fuels and how much you want to pay.

Buy an extra rug

Treat yourself. You can save heat by adding a rug - plus it looks good too.

Turn them off when you can

You don't need them all on, all of the time. Give them a switch off to save some energy and pennies.
