It got Ross and Monica Geller an honorable mention in the brother/sister dance category in middle school, and was reprised on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, and now The Routine is back! This time though, one half of the dancing duo is none other than Ed Sheeran.

That’s right, in the least expected collaboration of 2021, Courteney Cox has teamed up with the singing sensation to bring back the famous dance routine from Friends. In a short clip, posted on Cox’s Instagram, Sheeran can be seen perfectly filling the shoes of David Schwimmer as the pair recreate Ross and Monica's killer moves.

There's not much of an explanation as to why the routine has been resurrected, nor why Ed Sheeran is performing it, with Cox simply saying in the post, "Just some routine dancing with a friend."

Regardless of the randomness of it all, fans commented in their thousands, and there were some very famous names amongst the commenters. Actor Kaley Cuoco said, "This is EPIC," while fashion designer Tan France wrote, "This is amazing!"

Cox’s Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow simply said, "WOW!"

Check out a comparison of the two routines to see how seamlessly Ed Sheeran takes on the Ross role. He must have spent a few hours practicing in the bedroom mirror!

The clip comes at a time when the popular sitcom is on everyone’s minds, following the Friends reunion show, which aired on Sky last week. The cast remain adamant that we won’t be seeing any new episodes, so could we any more grateful for content like this popping up on social media? More please!
