We laughed. We cried. We almost didn't see it at all. The Friends reunion didn't go 100 per cent according to the plan and nearly had to be scrapped because of an on-set error. Director Ben Winston told The Sunday Times that the stars' emotional meeting was almost ruined... because their trailers were parked next to each other. The stars had only seen each other once since the end of the show in 2004 and the magic moment was nearly marred.

Ben said: "I was so upset. The point of the show is they haven't seen each other. But it was too late to move them.

"We built tents around each of their doorways. And I texted the six of them and said, ‘Look, I know you want to see each other but I'm begging you: please stay in your own dressing room until you're called to the stage. I really want to catch that moment.'"

He continued: "They mocked me for wanting that moment. They were, like, ‘What do you mean? We’re all in the car on the way here together.’ ‘Jen, will you pick me up a coffee?’

"Oh, I’m already outside your house.’ And then Matt texted ‘I’m already in bed with David.’ But they did do what I asked. And you do get the feeling that they haven't seen each other for ages. And it's a really beautiful moment. I've never seen a bond like these six have."

Of getting David Schwimmer signed up, he said: "He was the one I had to win over first. He heard my ideas and then vouched for me."

He then went to Lisa Kudrow's house and invited Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc. He said: “I took the three of them through my treatment. And they really liked it. Then I met Matthew Perry over FaceTime.”

Last to sign up was Jennifer Aniston, who got bowled over by his ideas. She said about the director previously: “He’s like a creative unicorn. The work he put into the pitch and how he got all of us so excited and inspired to say yes showed us that he knows Friends better than all of us combined.”
