Whilst Christian Bale was undoubtedly amazing in Christopher Nolan’s brilliant Batman movies, to people of a certain age, the caped crusader will always be Michael Keaton. So, it’s exciting to learn that the 69-year-old is going to be reprising his role as Batman in an upcoming new movie.
Flash, directed by Andy Muschietti, will see different versions of Batman on screen, including Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton, who first played the role in 1989 in Tim Burton’s gothic 1989 flick and its sequel.
Speaking to Emmy-Winner Jake Hamilton on Jake’s Takes, the actor spoke about putting the costume back on after three decades. He said: “It was shockingly normal. It was weird. I went. ‘Oh. Oh yeah, that’s right!’ But also then, you start to play the scenes. It was a lot of memories, a lot of interesting sense memories actually.”
Fans are clearly excited about the return of the Hollywood star as Batman/Bruce Wayne. One commenter on social media said, “Keaton is Batman and I can't wait to see him return next year as The Dark Knight.”
Another added, “I can't freaking wait to see him in his costume again!”
Starring alongside Keaton and Affleck will be Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash. Kiersey Clemons and Maribel Verdú will also appear, while Sasha Calle will play Supergirl in the film, which may broadly adapt the Flashpoint storyline, whereby Barry Allens runs through time to undo his mother’s death.
Confusingly, an entirely different film, entitled The Batman, is also being worked on, with Robert Pattinson playing the main character.

These are busy times for Michael Keaton, as he is also set to star in upcoming action thriller The Protégé, alongside Maggie Q and Samuel L. Jackson.
