Week three of Strictly took viewers to the movies, as celebs and their professional dancing partners performed routines based on their favourite films, but which contestants failed to impress at the box office?

The second vote-off of the new series took place on Sunday night, with Katie McGlynn and Judi Love finding themselves in the bottom two.

On Saturday, Former Coronation Street actress and current Hollyoaks star Katie and her dance partner Gorka Marquez put on a Cruella-themed routine, but failed to impress. Meanwhile, Loose Women favourite Judi missed the mark with a Chicago-inspired routine with dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

And so, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced that Katie and Gorka, and Judi and Graziano would have to do their routines again, with one pair securing their place in next week’s show and the other going home.

After the two couples had danced again, it was up to the judges Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood to decide who progressed.

Firstly, Craig chose to save Judi, saying: “I think both couples did really well, and improved in the dance-off itself, but there was one couple for me who shone brighter in the performance, and that is Judi and Graziano.”

Motsi voted the same way, saying: “It was a really hard decision to take, but I am just going to go with the overall positive picture which was more dance intensive, so I am going to go with Judi and Graziano."

Anton, however, went for Katie and Gorka, saying: “I thought that both the couples danced very very well, their performances they gave this evening were very very strong. I just felt that one couple was cleaner than the other, and one couple made a very slight mistake. Because of that I am going to save Katie and Gorka."

And so it was all down to Shirley, who confirmed that it would be Katie and Gorka going home. Upon making her decision, she said: “This is always a tough part of the job. Both couples gave it their very very best, I didn’t see any mistakes from either one, both beautiful performances. I am going to go with the one that I felt had more edge and more rhythm to me, so I am going to go with Judi and Graziano.”

Before she left, Katie said: “I have absolutely loved my time, I am so happy I got to be Cruella, and dance with this amazing guy, I have loved every second of it."

To Gorka, she said: “Thank you for being an amazing partner, we have laughed so much, and I get to walk away with an amazing friend. Thanks so much for teaching me in your funny ways, we have had so much fun.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to the BBC on Saturday evening.
