They've only gone and done it again. The winners of the 2021 Glitterball have beaten their fellow competitors and won the trophy on the first night of the live show.

Champions Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were crowned the winners on the opening night which started with a bang in Birmingham yesterday.

Rose and Giovanni shared their victory on their Instagram stories and she told their fans: "Hello. We’ve just done our very first show, and… we won it! Yes! I want to say thank you to the Birmingham people."

Giovanni added: "It’s so nice to be back and perform in front of the live audience finally after two years. So thank you for coming tonight!’ he said, as his partner remarked that it was ‘completely different from a live show."

Giovanni told his partner: "Well done you. It went good, well done," and gave her a kiss.

Other celebs taking part in the live tour this year are Kai Widdrington and Maisie Smith, who replaced an injured AJ Odudu.

But it wasn't all celebratory news. Tilly Ramsay's partner Nikita Kuzmin has been forced to pull out of the show after testing positive for Covid-19.

He wrote online: "So sad to be missing a portion of the Strictly Live Tour, but unfortunately I tested Positive for COVID-19.

"Lots of luck to all the amazing Strictly Cast. Will be back as soon as I can :)."
