They ain’t afraid of coming up with their own version of Ghostbusters. And when you’re reworking a much-loved film, who are you gonna call? A bunch of showbiz mates!

As they proved a long time ago with Chums, their take on popular sitcom Friends which they aired every Saturday morning with Cat Deeley on popular kids show SM:TV, Ant and Dec can respectfully spoof popular narratives. Now, they are set to do so for the next series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

As reported by The Sun, the Geordie presenters will offer their own mini-series version of the classic 1984 film, and have enlisted the likes of Melinda Messenger, and Fred Sirieix from First Dates to help them do so.

Among the other stars set to feature in the story, which will play out across the upcoming 18th series of Saturday Night Takeaway, are singer Will Young and ex-footballer Wayne Bridge.

A TV source told The Sun: “Every year Ant and Dec worry about how they can make each series better than the last but this time around they think they have cracked it.

"So many good names have signed up for cameos. When you get the call it’s not like you would say no.”

The source added: “Building on the success of their whodunnits Who Shot Simon Cowell and Who Stole the Crown Jewels, this time around it’s based on Ghostbusters.”

The lads recently announced that their popular show would return after the run of their current venture, Limitless Win. And although an exact release date is yet to be announced for the new series of the hit ITV Saturday evening show, it is expected to launch in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win returns to ITV this Saturday at 8.30pm. The first three episodes are available on ITV Hub.
