The songs have been a huge hit, and Encanto could be coming to a stage near you.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is responsible for huge shows such as 'Hamilton', and also wrote the songs for Disney's 'Moana' and 'Encanto'.
One of the songs from 'Encanto', 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' made it to the number one spot in the UK singles chart, overtaking the success of 'Frozen's 'Let It Go'.
Now, Miranda has said he's been thinking about the possibilities of taking 'Encanto' to the theatre stage.
It wouldn't be the first Disney movie to make the leap, as 'Frozen', 'The Lion King', 'The Little Mermaid', 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Tarzan' have all been made into stage shows.
Lin-Manuel told E! News: "I think it weirdly lends itself well,"
"They don't always, you know? Like, I can't picture a Moana Broadway musical. I don't know how you'd do the ocean."
It turns out he's already written a song that he could see closing the show.
"My first draft of the last song in the movie, 'All of You,' was like seven minutes long," he said. "It was so late in production that they were like, 'Lin, we won't make the movie in time.
"You actually have to cut this down.' So I've got the Broadway finale like in the chamber."
He would "love" a stage show but he says there are also possibilities for a TV series or even a second film, saying: "There's so many stories in that house, that it would be wonderful to expand on it."
The news comes after one of the songs from 'Encanto' is up for Best Original Song at the Oscars.
He is thrilled with the response to the music: "It's been amazing to see how seen people feel, because we're all pulling from personal places—Jared [Bush], Charise [Castro Smith] and Byron [Howard]—in every aspect of the story. It was developed by all of us, throwing our stories into the middle of the table."
Following the success of 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', it emerged that Bruno's character was originally called Oscar.
Fans were surprised that the song wasn't submitted for the Oscars, but Miranda said they had no way of predicting which song would connect, and the deadline for entries was November 1.
"No one could have predicted the success of the soundtrack, much less that [We Don't Talk About Bruno] was going to be the one that popped off,"
"When you submit a song for consideration, I always think the song you submit is not about whether you win or not. It's about the one that best exemplifies the spirit of the movie itself. That's always the guiding principle. And for us, Dos Oruguitas is the foundational story."
