Her Majesty is known for her love of corgis but she’s opted for something different this time.

The Monarch already owns two corgis, one of which was gifted to her by Prince Andrew and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice for her birthday, and one dorgi (a dachshund crossed with a corgi).

Pembrokeshire Welsh corgis have been a firm favourite of hers since she was gifted one by her parents back in 1933, which she named Dookie.

Since becoming Queen in 1952, she’s owned more than 30 corgis, and she loves them so much there is a dedicated room for the dogs in Buckingham palace.

However, she has broken tradition with her latest addition to her corgi family.

Her Majesty has chosen an award-winning Cocker Spaniel, who she is calling Lissy. The dog is four years old and is apparently named after Queen Liz herself.

It has been reported that the Queen was inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton’s dog Lupo, and, according to OK! Magazine, it is the first gundog champion she’s had.

A gundog, otherwise known as a bird dog, is a hunting dog that assists their owners in finding and retrieving game.

The pup won the 91st kennel club cock spaniel championship and is listed under the official pedigree name Wolferton Drama.

Her Majesty is known for giving her dogs eccentric names such as Whisky, Sherry, Candy, Sugar and Honey, so Lissy is a great fit.

The Queen is currently celebrating her Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service on the throne.

She may have broken tradition here, but the monarch is a stickler for rules in other parts of her life. For example, she has seven dining rules that must be followed, including no garlic, no crusts on sandwiches and eating bananas with a knife and fork.
