The incredible tale of our Graham Norton’s 2016 debut novel will hit the small screen next month, and now we have the first look at the exciting drama.

ITV have released the first trailer for Holding, based on the best selling book of the same name, and stars the likes of Conleth Hill, Derry Girls actress Siobhán McSweeney and Brenda Fricker.

Game of Thrones star Conleth plays the leading role of local police officer Sergeant PJ Collins, who has to solve the first serious crime in his entire career when long-lost local legend Tommy Burke is found dead.

Main suspects in the fictional Irish village of Duneen, West Cork, include Siobhán's character Brid, who was due to marry Tommy before his disappearance, and Evelyn Ross, played by Peaky Blinders star Charlene McKenna, who was desperately in love with him.

Check out the trailer below:

Newcomer Clinton Liberty plays Linus, a fast-tracked eager young detective from Cork who’s keen to make a name for himself.

Kathy Burke is at the helm as director of the comedy-drama, which is set to launch in March.

The trailer shows the small town quirks of Duneen, as well as all the interesting and complex characters within. We see PJ batting away small-town annoyances, to him finding the body of Tommy and working together with Linus to solve his murder.

When the series was first announced back in May, Graham said: “I am beyond excited to see the story and characters I created being brought to the screen.

“I love how the brilliant creative team have transformed my novel into something so rich and dramatic. West Cork is ready for its close-up!!”

Director Kathy added: “2021 is my 40th year working in the industry and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than directing Holding. It’s a beautiful piece of writing with a great story and fantastic, full bodied characters. All this with glorious West Cork as its setting proved irresistible."

Holding will air on ITV in March.
