Dearest gentle reader, it sounds like series 2 of Bridgerton is already the talk of the ‘ton.
We only have a few more weeks to wait until the next series of the steamy period drama lands on Netflix, but one star has already caught a glimpse of what’s to come.
Following the first look of some new characters, Penelope Featherington herself, Nicola Coughlan, hinted at a major series finale.
She shared with her Twitter followers: “I’ve just seen the finale of Season Two of Bridgerton and it is so good I am FREAKING OUT.”
Nicola then went on to reply: “I loved it so much! I didn’t breathe! My heart was doing 120bpm the whole way through! (Genuinely).”
It sounds fans are in for a real treat then!
Of course, Nicola’s fans went into a frenzy following the exciting tweet. One wrote in response: “This is wonderful Nicola!!! I cannot wait to watch your wonderful work”, while another said: “NICOLA PLEASE TELL US ONE HINT?! ONE TINY HINT?! IM GONNA HAVE A BREAKDOWN PLEASE PLEASE.”
Netflix also treated us with some brand new posters featuring some of our most beloved Bridgerton characters along with some more stills of Anthony and his new love interest.
In the posters, we see the Viscount (Jonathan Bailey) posing with his two brothers (Luke Newton and Luke Thompson) as well as new additions to the society, Kate (Simone Ashley) and Edwina Sharma (Charinthra Chandran), who will both play a part in the eldest Bridgerton brother’s love life.
We also get a poster dedicated entirely to Queen Charlotte and all her regal glory, as well as a picture of Penelope Featherington, AKA Lady Whistledown, looking mischievous with her paper and quill.
In another special poster, we see Penelope seemingly gossiping with her close friend Eloise Bridgerton, although it is unclear whether Eloise knows about her friend’s alter ego.
Last year Netflix announced Simone and Charinthra were joining the cast, and the plot of season two is expected to follow Anthony Bridgerton as he searches for a suitable wife to settle down with.
He has his sights set on Edwina, but her sister understands his intentions to marry her sister are not grounded in love and she intervenes.
Season two of Bridgerton premiers on Netflix on 25 March 2022.
