Food-themed fashion ranges have proven to be quite popular recently.

Earlier this year, the high street brand Primark kicked things off when it linked up with Greggs for a pastry-inspired collection that sold out instantly.

Now, Cadbury is the latest jumping on the bandwagon after launching a Creme Egg-inspired clothing range designed and manufactured by sustainable designer Charlotte Kirkham from Rue Carlota.

The collection consists of three key pieces- a balaclava, a pair of gloves and a shirt- all made up of the iconic yellow, purple and red colour scheme of the Creme Egg.

If that sounds like it would appeal to you, you may be out of luck as the clothes went on sale yesterday morning and sold out completely in just a few hours.

Who knew there would be such a demand for food-inspired clothing?

Well, it might have something to do with the fact that the Cadbury’s range was free of charge. This is impressive considering a bog-standard shirt from Rue Carlota’s general collection would cost you around £185.

The collaboration between the chocolate giants and fashion brand comes as part of Cadbury’s How Do You Not Eat Yours competition, where they have circulated a limited number of half milk half white chocolate Creme Eggs around the country.

Anyone who picks up the rare chocolate egg must resist the urge to eat it and can claim a cash prize of up to £10,000.

Speaking about the collaboration, designer Charlotte Kirkham said: “As a sustainable designer, having built Rua Carlota from my bedroom, it was amazing to be approached for a collaboration with the iconic Cadbury Creme Egg brand.

"Such a unique design brief made producing the limited-edition collection both a challenging and rewarding experience. I can’t wait to see the reaction to the online drops - each of the pieces intertwines the Rua Carlota DNA with a Creme Egg sense of fun, and should definitely make eating a Creme Egg a lot more challenging."
