You've read that right. Sainsbury's are releasing a chocolate flavoured houmous, just in time for Easter.

The £1 treat is part of the Sainsbury's Easter Bunny snack range, and was released alongside the rest of their Easter collection earlier this year.  It can also be bought as part of Sainsbury's £3.50 meal deal.

It is vegan, and made with chickpeas, peanut butter, maple syrup, milk or soya milk, vanilla and a pinch of salt. So what are shoppers saying about the strange snack?

'My boyfriend tried to buy chocolate hummus at the grocery store today. I really love him, but I feel this is grounds for a breakup, please advise,' one Twitter user (perhaps) joked.

'Why does chocolate hummus exist,' enquired another.

'Whoever created chocolate hummus, I hate you,' said someone else, which felt a bit OTT.

'I bet someone thinks this snack is very houmous' said someone else. Actually, a lot of people tried to make puns using the word 'houmous' but they didn't really work. The whole thing has exposed that not a lot of people can spell 'houmous' also.

And yet some people admitted they are a fan of the controversial snack.

'Chocolate hummus is so good, argue with the wall,' one said.

'Chocolate hummus is god tier,' another added.

As for us? The jury is out. We'll let you know after we've had our lunch later on.
