It's a good news day for viewers of Vigil, The Tourist, The Responder and Time as the BBC has announced all four of the recent huge TV hits will be back for more brain-tingling drama.

The much-watched and much-loved shows are 'bringing the nation together' for another helping, said BBC’s Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore. She explained: "I really think right now that the BBC is proving its worth. I think we did that during Covid.

"There are these moments when there is a real feeling that we’ve never needed a public service broadcaster more, to inform and educate and entertain and to bring the nation together."

She added: "In its first 30 days, 12 million people watched The Tourist – that’s twice as big as the largest [recent] show, Stay Close, on Netflix.

"The power that the BBC has to reach millions of people is far greater than we perhaps realise," she told Radio Times.

Viewers were elated to hear the small screen news. One fan excitedly wrote: "THANK YOU FOR WHAT I AM SURE WILL BE ANOTHER SMASH HIT WITH THE TOURIST!"

Another added: "Loved all of these so this is great news, although intriguing to think where Vigil will go next."

One fan agreed: "Yes, series 2 of Vigil! Very exciting news."

A Time fan applauded: "Who would say no to more Stephen Graham on our tv screen? Bring it on."

Another user praised: "Looks like we are in for a treat, watched all four of these series and loved them all."

It's thought the four popular series will return sometime in 2023.
