Good Morning Britain weather reporter Alex Beresford was crowned the winner of ITV’s All-Star Musicals last night (3 April), and now he’s got his eyes on the West End.

After an incredible performance of My Shot from the hit musical Hamilton, the presenter managed to impress the judges and host John Barrowman and win the show.

He appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning and spoke to presenters Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley, and showbiz correspondent Vick Hope about what is next for him.

Vick asked Alex: “Do you think you’ll be swapping your day job on the news…”

In response, he joked: “Well, if Lynn [Manuel Miranda] needs me on Broadway, I might be there for one shot…”

Later in the interview, Madeley asked again whether Alex would be seriously interested in a musical career, and the weather presenter seemed quite keen.

He said: “One thing I will say is doing All Star Musicals, I loved it so much- it’s one night, isn’t it? And it left me wanting more. So, who knows?”

Prior to his win, Beresford also told The Mirror he was “open” to doing the West End after appearing on All Star Musicals.

He explained: “Part of my degree was in performing arts, but I parked it and went into television presenting.

“If Elaine [Paige] wants me to come and do something on Broadway, then maybe I will.”

The GMB reporter was up against some stiff competition for the crown as well and beat the likes of former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa, TV presenter Michaela Strachan and Coronation Street actress Lisa George.

After winning, the presenter said: "It felt absolutely amazing. It was surreal. We were all standing there on stage and waiting for them to call a name and when I heard Al... I was like 'oh my God, it’s me'

"It was just the best feeling in the world. I’ve never won anything like that before.

"After my performance when I was listening to the judge's comments, they were saying such lovely things and it just really touched me and my eyes welled up.

"I was holding my tears back - I didn't want to blub on national television!"

All Star Musicals is available to watch now on ITV and ITV Hub.
