If you liked The Tinder Swindler, Inventing Anna and Bad Vegan, this could be the next documentary for you.

Netflix viewers have been left baffled by the latest true crime documentary from the streaming platform, which comes as part of a string of scammer-related shows released by the service.

Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King dropped on Netflix on Wednesday (30 March) and dives into the mysterious case of Gerry Cotten- a crypto multimillionaire who died while on a trip to India in 2018.

Cotten was the founder of QuadrigaCX, which is one of Canada’s largest crypto exchanges.

Due to the suspicious circumstances of his death, there have been many conspiracy theories surrounding the case, and the documentary follows a group of internet sleuths who are trying to unravel the truth.

Some people believe Cotten faked his death because he was the only person to know the passcodes to his crypto wallets, which contained around $250 million of other people’s cryptocurrency (some of which belonged to the sleuths in the documentary).

It is quite a strange case, which takes some twists and turns as the group delves deeper into their investigation. It’s also a cautionary tale for anyone who has invested or is thinking of investing in crypto.

Following its release last week, viewers have been hooked on the bizarre documentary and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “Folks investing in Crypto need to see "Trust No One: The hunt for crypto king" on Netflix, before sinking their savings 🙂”.

Another wrote: “Wowzers just watched Trust No One: The hunt for the crypto king. Very intense!”

A third said: “The documentary “ Trust No One: the Hunt for the Crypto King “ is absolutely wild.”

While a fourth said: “Currently watching “Trust no one: The hunt for the Crypto King”.. This crypto currency thing is crazyyyy! I still don’t believe this man is dead.”

Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King is available to watch on Netflix now.
