A new and spectacular £250 million waterpark is set to open in the UK and will include the country’s first-ever all season beach.

Going to the seaside during the colder months in the UK usually means wearing multiple layers, battling strong winds and eating fish and chips in the rain under whatever shelter you can find.

When we finally get a heatwave, Brits tend to flock to the seaside in their millions to soak up the limited vitamin D we will have for the year.

So, we can certainly see why there would be interest in a beach where you can eat ice cream and catch a tan all year round.

Therme Manchester will be the UK’s first city-based wellbeing resort and is set to come to Trafford City in a few years.

The website for the waterpark describes it as being an “immersive experience that benefits the mental and physical health and wellbeing of all who visit.”

It will also boast a “next generation” waterpark with 20 pools and 35 waterslides, a wellbeing spa and thermal baths,

On top of that, there will be botanical gardens, an on-site urban farm, immersive digital art and an all-season beach.

It is no surprise then that the waterpark will be costing a whopping £250 million.

There will also be a visitor and education centre onsite for schools and community groups as the project aims to be a “positive force in the community”.

Construction of the park was supposed to begin shortly, but it had to be pushed back by a year. Bosses are now predicting that Therme will open in 2025 if everything goes to plan.

Richard Land, chief development officer at Therme Group UK, said the events of the past few years have: “shone a light on the necessity of this mission, especially for those in cities.

"Therme Manchester will redefine city wellbeing, enhancing mental and physical health through an experience based in water and nature.

"It will offer a unique holiday at home, that acts as a catalyst for healthy lifestyles.”
