Rod Stewart gave drinkers a surprise when he showed up at a pub in Glasgow on Sunday and started serving pints.

In an Instagram post shared by the Dirty Duchess pub, we saw the Maggie May singer getting his hands dirty behind the bar, along with a video of him chatting to locals with the caption: “Great to have spare bartender Rod ‘the mod’ Stewart tonight!”

The musician is a huge fan of the Glasgow football team Celtic and had been in the city to see the team draw with Ranger in the Old Firm Derby with Scottish singer John McLaughlin just hours before.

Still in his green and white Celtic jumper, shirt and tie, Stewart decided to jump behind the bar at the pub and lend a hand.

It’s not the first time Rod’s rolled up his sleeves and got involved, the singer made headlines earlier this year in March when he posted two videos of himself filling potholes near his home.

In the video, the music legend is shovelling gravel in a hi-vis yellow jacket and says: “This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages. People are bashing their cars up. The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tyre. My Ferrari can’t go through here at all!

“So me and the boys thought we would come and do it ourselves. We are filling the holes while millions and millions of pounds have been spent on the M11.”

Stewart is due to embark on a tour of North America and the UK later this year. Kicking off in Nottingham on 16 November, the singer will be stopping off at London, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Belfast and Dublin over the course of his 22-date tour.
