New bargain supermarket rivalling Lidl and Aldi to launch within weeks

Get ready to bag yourself a discount. 

A brand new bargain supermarket is about to launch in the UK promising to rival the likes of Lidl and Aldi. 

The supermarket, called Motatos, will open its virtual doors in June, and has a waste-not model, and will only be available online. 

Motatos is already available in Sweden, Germany and Finland, under the name Matsmart. 

It’ll be a bit like picking up discounted yellow-sticker food at the end of the day, with Motatos buying surplus food from wholesalers at a lower price. 

The ethos is around saving food rather than seeing food go to waste just before its sell-by date, or because its packaging or design is damaged. 

The new online store will stock everything from drinks, snacks, household goods, pet food and even beauty products.

The only thing to watch out for are the delivery fees, but if you manage to buy just the right amount of boxes, there is still the option of free delivery.

Anyone hoping to bag a bargain on a Pizza Express pizza soon might see a new addition to online and shop shelves. 

They’ve just added the most controversial of all pizzas - the Hawaiian - to its supermarket menu.

The pizza will feature prosciutto, mozzarella and (controversially) pineapple chunks on top of its classic base.

Hawaiian pizza toppings have divided foodies for decades now with some arguing pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and others insisting it adds to the flavour. In the UK alone, a study found that 82 per cent of customers liked pineapple as a fruit, but only 53 per cent enjoyed it on a pizza!

PizzaExpress is hoping to convince people otherwise with the launch of their new product as a supermarket exclusive, joining other fan favourites such as the American, the Pollo As Astra and the Vegan Giardiniera.
