The Queen is looking for a live-in housekeeper to manage Buckingham Palace

Ever fancied working for the Queen and managing a royal household? Well, you may be in luck because Her Majesty is on the hunt for a live-in housekeeper.

According to the job description, the ideal candidate must “aim for the highest standards” in all tasks they complete, have a “proactive approach” and “enjoy working as part of a team”.

They will also be expected to work 40 hours a week at either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

The job ad states: “This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise.

"Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.

"Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards. And you’ll welcome and take care of guests at functions and events too.

"This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and passion to deliver the exceptional."

It also stresses the ideal candidate must thrive in busy environments and have “good time management skills” to meet tight deadlines.

It adds: "Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We’re more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges.”

Managing the royal household might be a dream job for some people, but it is important to note this position only pays £7.97 per hour- which is £1.93 less than the UK’s minimum wage- the perks being you will get to live in a palace and have all meals provided.

Employees also get a 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme “plus benefits”, as well as 33 days of holiday, including bank holidays.

If this sounds like a bit of you, candidates have until 19 June to get their application in, and interviews are set to take place next month.

This opening comes just as the Queen gets ready to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, marking an incredible 70 years on the throne.

Celebrations will take place over the bank holiday weekend (2-5 June), with several events taking place across the country, including street parties in London, parades and the Party in the Palace concert.
