If you’ve seen this week’s episode of Better Call Saul, you were probably left shocked by its final scene. We didn't see it coming, but maybe we should have, as it turns out that Bob Odenkirk gave away a whopping spoiler quite a while ago.

If you haven’t seen the Better Call Saul midseason finale which aired on Netflix on Tuesday (24th May), then be warned, there are some mega spoilers ahead.

In the latest episode - the last until July, when the series will conclude - things started to go very wrong for Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian). Jimmy (Odenkirk) and Kim’s (Rhea Seehorn) plan to totally stitch him up over the Sandpiper case worked perfectly, leaving his professional reputation in tatters. With his marriage already in turmoil, it seemed that things couldn't get any worse for Howard. Or could they?

Well, if you’re still reading this, then presumably you are aware that, actually, it very much could and did get worse. When he turned up to Jimmy and Kim’s place, carrying a bottle of booze, he told them some home truths about what their plan had done to him, but his timing couldn’t have been worse, as who else should show up at that moment? Only bloomin’ Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton).

Jimmy was in shock because he assumed Lalo to be dead, but that was nothing compared to the shock he and Kim experienced when the terrifyingly calm mobster put a bullet in Howard’s head.

Safe to say, audiences were left stunned too, but maybe we all should have seen it coming, as it turns out Bob Odenkirk inadvertently tweeted a big spoiler about the scene all the way back in December 2021.

In a tweet to wish Patrick a happy birthday, the actor posted a nice picture of the pair.

However, if you look closely at the photo, you can see that there is quite clearly blood make-up on the actor’s head! We can’t believe we didn’t spot it at the time!

Some people, however, did notice the make-up when Bob tweeted the picture. One wrote: “RIP Howard Hamlin.”

Another added: “Howard seems like he may have some unfortunate times coming up…”

Once the midseason finale had aired, Bob addressed the errant tweet, saying: “Well the truth can be told. I screwed up. I did not know you could see a little bit of make up that told story… my bad.”

When Better Call Saul returns in July, it will bring to an end Jimmy/Saul’s origin story and presumably take us to the start of Breaking Bad. Bob joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky earlier this year to talk about first appearing in the series.

You can read the interview between Chris Evans and Bob Odenkirk here.

The second-half of Better Call Saul’s sixth and final season returns on 12th July on Netflix.
