While we all impatiently wait to see whether this is any truth to the circulating rumours about a possible new season of Line of Duty, we can at least be certain that we are going to be seeing one of its stars on our screens again soon, as Vicky McClure is starring in a new ITV series Without Sin. And it sounds like a cracking watch.

The four-part psychological thriller is set to explore the relationship which develops between a grieving mother and the man she believes murdered her daughter.

This is England, LoD and Trigger Point star Vicky plays Stella Tomlinson, whose 14-year-old daughter is found dead at their family home with the bloodied figure of Charles Stone standing over her.

Johnny Harris from The Salisbury Poisonings will feature as Charles.

The show, set in Nottingham, focuses on Stella’s life three years on, and how the loss has created deep divisions in her life. She now chooses to live a nocturnal existence as an Uber driver, and is estranged from her husband Paul, who still lives in the family home.

When contacted by Restorative Justice, Stella and Paul reunite to listen to a taped recording of Charles, who they believe wants to atone for his sins.

Surrounding herself with the people she trusts and holds dear, Stella decides to take things with Charles one step further, and visit the prison to come face to face with her daughter’s killer. But nothing could prepare her for what Charles has to say next…

Vicky said that she was “thrilled to be working once again with my good friend, and one of the UK’s finest actors, Johnny Harris, along with members of Nottingham’s The Television Workshop. To be filming in my home town is a dream come true.”

Earlier this month, Vicky was out and about with fellow LoD stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, as well as the show’s creator, Jed Mercurio, causing fans to wonder whether this meant that a seventh series could be on the cards.

Whatever happens (or not) with Line of Duty, we will definitely be tuning in to Without Sin!

There is no set date for Without Sin to air, but it’s expected to land later this year.
