Music icon Mark Owen has had a ball playing at Latitude Festival 2022 and he caught up with Virgin Radio's Jayne Middlemiss to chat all about it.

When asked about playing the gig, he said: “I’m still taking it all in to be honest. There's a lot of prestige about this festival and to come in and to get to perform here, looking at the other acts this weekend, it was a real honour for me and I was really excited about it."

Does he still get butterflies before going on stage? The former Take That member admitted: "I was a little bit nervous but it was a great crowd. I'm really pleased being out there performing and I'm enjoying being onstage.

"It's been a long time, obviously, with everything that's gone on around the world, not just for me, but for all the acts and music in general. To be back out there and performing in front of a crowd really feels positive. I'm performing new songs and I've got a wonderful band.”

Performing in front of one of the biggest crowds of the day, he shared: "They were all singing and joining in, and it's great. I'm fortunate because I've been doing this for quite some time and I have a few songs that hopefully people will know, and I was pleased with the set list.

"You imagine a crowd when you're putting your set list together and you're thinking, what should we do now and is this the right song to do? It's a real relief when it works.

"When I was making the record, part of the process was thinking about it live and how it translates live and I'm really pleased that the new songs are translating onstage."

On getting up-close with the audience, he said: “A lot of the times when we do these shows I always say, oh is there a way for us to get down to the crowd? Usually the answer that comes back is no. So halfway through today, I saw these stairs that go all the way down to the ground. I thought, I'm going!”
