Harry Potter star Rupert Grint features alongside Dave Bautista in the upcoming apocalyptic horror film from director M. Night Shyamalan and, to give us a taste of what to expect, the first trailer has just dropped.

In the teaser for Knock at the Cabin, we see Rupert, who played Ron Weasley in the wizarding film franchise, showing a more sinister side. Former professional wrestler Bautista, who plays Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, teams up with Grint to scare the life out of a family.

The trailer starts with dads Andrew (Jonathan Groff) and Eric (Ben Aldridge), and their daughter Wen (Kristen Cui), visiting a cabin next to clear-water lake for what they hope will be a relaxing break.

No chance.

Wen is busying herself with her butterfly project when she spots a man walking towards her through the woods. “My name's Leonard. It's nice to meet you, Wen,” Bautista's character says to her.

When the young girl asks why he is there, he says: “I suppose I'm here to make friends with you and your dads, too. But my heart is broken.”

“Why is it broken?” Wen asks.

“Because of what I have to do today,” Leonard responds.

Oh dear.

We then see Leonard, Redmond (Grint), Sabrina (Abby Quinn), and Adriane (Nikki Amuka-Bird) forcing their way with weapons into the cabin and restraining the family. They tell them that the apocalypse is about to happen and to prevent the end of the world, “Your family has been chosen to make a horrible decision.”

Whilst it is not specified exactly what the decision is, it certainly doesn’t sound too good for the family. “If you fail to choose, the world will end,” Leonard tells them. Oh-oh.

Have a look at the trailer here, and try to tell us you’re not intrigued.

Knock At The Cabin is based on the award-winning 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay.

If you’ve seen any of M. Night Shyamalan's previous films, which include The Sixth Sense, The Visit, The Happening and, most recently, Old, you’ll know to expect a few twists and turns along the way in his new offering.

Knock at the Cabin is scheduled to be released on 3rd February, 2023.
