Fans loved a quirky feature on Google Maps that is now being removed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Whenever you use Google Street View to see a place, a yellow 'pegman' shows where you are based.

If you viewed the streets around Buckingham Palace, 'Pegman' turned into a cartoon version of The Queen.

The cute add-on was created in 2015.

Pegman would be shown in a royal dress and crown in a version similar to Her Majesty, and was affectionately dubbed ‘PegMa’am’.

Fans are sad that following her death, Google has removed the feature on the quiet.

Reddit users were the first to notice it.

PegMa’am would also appear previously if you searched for Windsor Castle and Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The icon was created in 2015 to celebrate her record-breaking reign.

However, PegMa'am wasn't the only special edition.

If you use Street View in the area around Loch Ness, Pegman appears as a little Nessie the Loch Ness Monster.

Likewise, if you use it to view Area 51 in the Nevada desert, it transforms into a little spaceship.

Fans have been wondering if the Pegman will be changed into King Charles III, however as it stands it is still the yellow traditional icon.
