It’s a good job husband and wife team Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis can laugh at their past matching acting CVs. Back in 2011, Ashton starred in No Strings Attached with Natalie Portman, while Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake appeared in Friends with Benefits a few months after.  The difference? Not a lot.

And now Kutcher has finally admitted that the two films were practically the same. The actor was talking to Portman - who starred in 2010’s Black Swan with his wife - on the latest episode of his Peloton fitness series Our Future Selves and got round to discussing the rom-com elephant in the room.

Kutcher said, while working out with his celebrity guest: “I think the first time we really started hanging out is when we shot No Strings together. "Which is weird because my wife ... was shooting basically the same movie, called Friends with Benefits."

"Yes," said Portman. "And Mila and I had just shot Black Swan together right before. So we were all making out with each other!"

No Strings Attached also starred Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes, Greta Gerwig, Mindy Kaling, Lake Bell and Ludacris, and is about a man and a woman who try not to get feelings for each other during a sexual relationship.

Friends with Benefits starred Patricia Clarkson, Jenna Elfman, Woody Harrelson and Richard Jenkins and is about two friends who begin a sexual relationship while trying to avoid becoming a couple.

Portman - who locked lips with Kunis in Black Swan - previously answered who was the best kisser on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen.

She said: “I’ve kissed them both, yeah," and admitted that Kunis is ‘obviously’ the better kisser.

Former That 70’s Show co-stars Kunis and Kutcher married in 2015 after three years together. She previously said about how art had become reality for them: ”I did a movie called Friends With Benefits. He did a movie that was very similar called No Strings Attached. We lived our movies out. We were just like, 'Let's just hook up. Let's have fun. We're both single. We both trust each other. Everything's great,’.

“But then, I was like, you know what, I actually care about you. I don't want to mess anything up so I'm just going to walk away before it becomes too much. And he was like, 'Got it.'

“And the next day, he showed up to my house and he was like, 'Move in with me,’ and I said, 'Okay.'"
