Great news from here in the UK and a Good News update from Scotland :) Remember the nightclub I told you about last year who were planning to power the building with body heat from the clubbers? It was a brave and amazing idea and they’ve done it!
Say hello to SWG3, a venue in Glasgow that transforms the body heat of its patrons on their hopefully heaving dancefloor into geo-thermal energy! The heat from the clubbers is pushed down via a special fluid into a two hundred metre borehole and bounces back up as power for both heating and air conditioning. The amazing thing is they can’t now quantify which music generates the most power! Owner David Townsend has said a medium intensity record like The Rolling Stones might generate 250 watts “But (says David) if you’ve got a big DJ, absolutely slamming basslines and making everyone jump up and down, you could be generating 500-600W of thermal energy,” The system cost the owners £600,000 but they say they’ll make that back in five years because their gas boiler has now been switched off.

Heart warming news from the UK and success story of a child diagnosed with dyslexia who has now become an award winning children's author writing books for kids which are underpinned by mental health.
Say hello to Hannah Peckham, she’s a 44 year old mental health hero whom you may have seen giving talks and doing workshops in the Spafest area of Carfest about children’s mental health. Hannah visits schools and delivers workshops to inspire children that talking about their feelings and keeping their thoughts healthy is just as important as keeping their bodies healthy.
Hannah, like Paul Oakenfold, overcame dyslexia to become an author and her books like ‘Climb’ and ‘Conker The Chameleon’ are inspiring kids all over the world as she’s being translated into different languages following success in the UK. One of her adorable characters, (Conker The Chameleon) encourages children to talk about their feelings and has recently won a number of literary awards, most recently the Mind Body and Spirit Children’s Book Award.
