Fascinating news from here in the UK as we find out what goldfishes memories are actually like and the answer will surprise you.
We all love a good turnaround. Remember when they told us not to eat avocados? Then decades later they pulled a full handbrake turn? Well it’s happened again, but with goldfish. We’ve all lampooned these misunderstood fish for having a terrible memory, or used them as similes to belittle ourselves (“i’ve got the memory of a goldfish”) But! It turns out goldfish have very good memories! In fact they are routinely studied by fish cognition experts because of their good memories. Researchers at Oxford University taught goldfish to measure and remember distances! They did this by releasing goldfish into a calibrated narrow tank then they’d put their hand in to block them, they’d swim back and get a treat. Get this: eight out of nine goldfish remembered the exact distance before they turned back voluntarily on the second swim.
The perception of goldfish having the short term memory of an extremely stoned student come from humans putting them in little bowls, which in a way, shows that it’s us, not goldfish, that are dullards.

Heart warming and in fact, body warming and buoyant news from the USA as a dad unveils his secret project he’s been building in the dad shed, and it’s gone absolutely bananas viral on the old interwebs. Say hello…to the cork suit!
Yes you heard that right, 64 year old dad Kerry, from Michegan, drilled holes in 3450 corks, laced them together into a woody weave and made an actual suit out of them.
He kept the project secret from everyone but his wife because he was afraid it wouldn't work,
And at over 13lbs in weight, he may have had doubts when he launched himself into lake Michigan in his cork suit, but those doubts were very quickly repelled, as were any fears of submerging. “It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!” said his stepdaughter, Haley, who posted the video so friends and family could have a laugh. Nobody saw the tidal wave of love coming. Over three million views and counting! Gods bless it, and all who float in it! See the video by following the link below :)
