A new trailer has been shared for the much-anticipated Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion, ahead of its release later this year.

Following the success of the first ensemble movie, Daniel Craig’s Southern detective Benoit Blanc is back for more sleuthing in a new drama, once again written and directed by Rian Johnson.

The first film grossed over $311M worldwide with its whodunnit story about the death of ageing crime novelist Harlan Thrombey. Now, Blanc will travel overseas to a Greek island in the second instalment, which features a whole new cast of characters/suspects.

The narrative focuses on the fallout from tech billionaire Miles Bron’s yearly reunion on his private island. When someone turns up dead, the detective is put on the case. Bron is played by Edward Norton.

But who are the suspects? Well, there’s Bron’s former business partner, Andi Brand (Janelle Monáe), for a start, as well as Connecticut governor Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn). Then there’s scientist Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.), fashion designer and former model Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson) and her assistant Peg (Jessica Henwick). And we also have influencer Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) and his girlfriend Whiskey (Madelyn Cline).

Kathryn Hahn and Leslie Odom Jr. recently joined the Graham Norton Radio Show with Waitrose to talk about the upcoming film. The former was keeping her cards close to her chest regarding what happens. “I play a governor of Connecticut whose name is Claire Dibella. That's what I can say,” she told Graham.

Leslie added: “I play a scientist, Lionel Toussaint. We're connected to a character played by the brilliant Edward Norton, and we've been friends for a very long time. And you know that those relationships are fraught with all kinds of tension because of our history. That leads to us needing Benoit very close."

Glass Onion is the first of two Knives Out sequels being made for Netflix.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will have a limited release in cinemas from 23rd November, and will then stream on Netflix from 23rd December.
