Bruce Willis is back where he belongs, going head-to-head against a string of Santa-inspired criminals and taking on the lead role in Detective Knight: Redemption in the second instalment of the action movie trilogy.

The actor - who previously played Detective James Knight in Detective Knight: Rogue - can be seen kicking butt in the new trailer. The first offering landed last month and the third instalment, Detective Knight: Independence, is coming to the big screen next year.

Bruce's Knight is now in prison and finds himself in the middle of a jailbreak staged by the Santa Claus costume-wearing The Christmas Bomber who terrorise the city.

An official synopsis reads: "With the promised return of his badge in exchange for taking out the terrorists, the steely-eyed Knight doles out mercy for the just — and merciless justice for all the rest."

Directed by Edward Drake, Bruce stars alongside Beau Mirchoff, Lochlyn Munro, Corey Large, Miranda Edwards and Paul Johansson.

The series is one of the last movies the megastar filmed before announcing his retirement due to being diagnosed with aphasia.

Director John McTiernan said in 2020 about its festive theme: "We hadn't intended it to be a Christmas movie, but the joy that came from it is what turned it into a Christmas movie."

Fans watched the trailer and commented: "Mad respect to Bruce Willis, he is and forever will be the man of the late 80s and throughout the 90s, I wish him all the best."

"This actually looks pretty good!" wrote a second.

"I thought Bruce was done making movies but I’m not gonna complain," remarked a third.

"Hell yeah, another Bruce Willis movie!!!" said one excited fan.

"OMG!!! Looks awesome. Thanks," praised another.

Detective Knight: Redemption is in cinemas and on demand from 9th December.
