The words Tom Cruise and Call the Midwife aren't things we'd usually see in the same sentence but their worlds have collided and the Hollywood star is causing a spot of bother over on the BBC show, thanks to Tom's chopper.

Jenny Agutter, (Sister Julienne), who has starred in the much-loved show since 2012, says that the Mission: Impossible star is making their own mission to film the latest series impossible.

The reason for the unwanted A-list interruption? Cruise has been cruising in and out of Surrey's Longcross studios multiple times in his noisy helicopter.

“Tom Cruise keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting”, she told The Mirror.

Unlucky for some, Cruise, who plays IMF agent Ethan Hunt, is currently filming the eighth offering of the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, on the same lot as Call the Midwife.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will see Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Vanessa Kirby back on screens next year in the penultimate movie which has already been filmed.

The BBC star joked about the noise of his chopper and that she might have to have words with him. She continued: “In my habit! Imagine. ‘Excuse me Tom, but look we’re trying to film. I don’t know about you, but just get your helicopter out of here quickly!’”.

Here's a festive peek at what's to come in the Call The Midwife Christmas special.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One will be released on 14 July 2023.
