Louis Theroux Interviews will be returning for a second series, it has been confirmed by the BBC.

The first series, which sees the documentary-maker sit down with a different celebrity every week and take a deep dive into their lives, has been a huge success featuring the likes of Stormzy, Katherine Ryan, Dame Judi Dench, Bear Grylls, Yung Blud and Rita Ora.

Now, a second series has been commissioned and Theroux has promised “intimate access” to more “big stars”.

He added: “It was a huge pleasure making the first series of Louis Theroux Interviews and I’m thrilled it connected with audiences and now we’re allowed to make some more.

“Massive thanks to the BBC for believing in the idea and for supporting us every step of the way. Expect more big stars, intimate access and three times Bafta-winning excellence from yours truly.”

The final episode of the first series aired last night (29th November) as Theroux sat down with singer Rita Ora, visiting her father’s London pub and heading to Albania to see her perform live.

Clare Sillery, head of commissioning documentaries, said: “It is testament to Louis’ skill and genuine curiosity about people that in a series featuring very different individuals, he was able to make such an engaging set of films. With a range of subjects from Dame Judi Dench to Yungblud, it is impossible to pick a favourite episode.”

“I am so delighted he’s making more and cannot wait to see the lineup for the next series.”

The series made headlines last week when comedian Katherine revealed she knew someone in the industry that she believed to be a predator.

She also talked about her career, relationship and family and speaking from her London home, Katherine told Louis that she doesn't mind being the butt of the joke: "I don't care if I'm the punchline at all. At all.”

She added: "If someone had a really good joke about me, I'd love it."

When Theroux met with Dame Judi Dench a few weeks ago, the actress reflected on her relationship with late husband Michael Williams and his great sense of humour. She also spoke about appearing in the Bond movies, her failing eyesight and thoughts on being a national treasure.

Louis Theroux Interview series one is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
