Encouraging news from the USA where forests prone to wildfire are now being safeguarded by the people who looked after them for thousands of years.

There are now regular and frequent fires springing up in the mountains, because small, controlled blazes are the way these forests were maintained since they were mere saplings.

Say “Yahé” to The Yurok and Karuk tribal nations, who because of ridiculous red tape weren’t allowed to look after the land they had been custodians of for centuries, until now and new measures driven by global heating have handed back management of the ancient forests to the people who know it best. They light small fires to burn the ferns and leaves between the trees, which makes it much harder for fires to spread, the trees become healthier too, benefitting from nutrients, growing stronger and more fire resistant. That’s what I call real Homeland Security.

Good news from here in the UK and a window cleaner who’s made a name for himself by cleaning road signs and brightening up the neighbourhood.

Say hello to Liam Wildish, who’s originally from Nottingham but recently moved to Maidstone in Kent and started a window cleaning business earlier this year.
