Oscars 2023: Shortlists for 95th Academy Awards unveiled

The Oscars are on their way and the shortlists have been released for the upcoming 2023 awards. The ten categories revealed include documentary feature film, documentary short film, international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, original score, original song, animated short film, live action short film, sound, and visual effects.

Nominees for directing and acting are scheduled to be announced live on January 24 ahead of the star-studded Oscars ceremony on March 12 hosted by Emmy winner Jimmy Kimmel for the third time at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre.

Edward Berger's anti-war film All Quiet on the Western Front has bagged international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, original score, sound, and visual effects categories, while James Cameron's sci-fi sequel Avatar: The Way of Water has landed original score, original song, sound, and visual effects.

Ryan Coogler's superhero sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever landed original score, original song, sound, and visual effects, while Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's drama Everything Everywhere All at Once landed makeup and hairstyling, original score, original song, and sound.

Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise has racked up original song, sound, and visual effects, while Matt Reeves' The Batman has landed makeup and hairstyling, sound, and visual effects. 

Over in music, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga have all landed spots for original song.
