Heart warming news from Rome and the amazing tourist attraction that helps feed, clothe and house the city’s poorest people.

Say bongiorno to the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous landmarks in the world and on or near the top of every to-see list of tourists in Rome. Thanks to tradition made famous by a fifties film called Three Coins In The Fountain, visitors must throw a coin over their shoulder and into the colossal fountain to return to the city. Each year over a million euros are lobbed into the enormous fountain which was commissioned in the 1730s and depicts Oceanus the sea god pulled by a shell chariot of seahorses, surrounded by oceanic iconography.

Every Christmas time, a charity arm of the catholic church sucks the fortune of good luck charms into a great sucky thing and use it to fund soup kitchens, homeless shelters, free supermarkets and other help for the homeless of Rome.

A cute as you like news pupdate from Japan now and a dog whose haircut is so awesome she’s amassed over 100,000 followers.

Say hello to Mohu, a toy poodle from Osaka, also home to okonomiyaki, or japanese bubble and squeak, one of the greatest contributions to the culinary world, and Mohu might look like she’s eaten all the okonomiyaki, because she’s almost entirely spherical, but it’s her haircut which makes her look like an absolute unit.

Spherical hairstyles for dogs is nothing new in Japan, the last Japanese international canine internet sensation was a white Pomeranian whose haircut made him look like an egg. He now has his own TV show and merchandise range, called Eggdog. Jayne who works on the Breakfast show here, has an Eggdog sweat-shirt and I have an Eggdog key chain toy, when Mohu gets his own range, trust me, we’ll be there! ;)
