Amazing news for history buffs as a team of underwater archaeologists recover hundreds of artefacts from the most perfectly preserved wooden shipwreck.
Ddi you see that mesmerising series, The Terror, on Amazon last year? It dramatised the worst disaster in British naval history as HMS Terror and its sister ship HMS Erebus tried to find a northern route to the pacific in the 1840s and got stuck in the pack ice.
Now, 8 years after The Erebus was found in Canada’s most northern territory, it’s been explored and unpacked and because the water is so cold there, much of the ship is still, well, ship shape and Bristol fashion. A drafting table tool set, serving dishes, an embossed leather billfold, a toothbrush, lieutenant’s epaulettes, and an eyeglass lens, among scores of other fascinating finds. So much of the ship is perfectly intact that they believe if they raised it, the ship would still float, so there’s lots more to be discovered!

Breathtaking news from UAE and a resort that plans to let you sleep in a luxury tent that’s suspended in mid air over a massive mountain gorge!
This one isn’t for the faint of heart and would be a nightmare for anyone with vertigo, but the rest of us can let our hearts race a little with excitement at the prospect of being on a giant platform between two mountains, then stepping into a tent which you can then lower into the void below.
Say salaam alekum to the so-called Floating Retreat, in the Sharjah mountains, the brainchild of a Dubai architect who was tasked with blending environmental awareness and the joy of nature with modern creature comforts. The tents will be made from space age fabric and suspended by an unbreakable cord, you’ll hold your breath when I tell you they’re planning an open platform you can actually dangle your legs off, because each guest will have a safety harness tied to a rail behind the platform. Sounds amazing!
