Hugh Jackman is well on his way to returning as Wolverine in the next Deadpool sequel.
The Hollywood star provided fans with a new look at his intense workout routine now he’s getting ripped again to portray the muscular Marvel character.
Uploading new gym footage on Instagram, Hugh shared a black-and-white clip of him seemingly working out his core with a massive weight on his back as he moved back and forth in a plank position.
Despite building up a sweat with the hardcore workout, Hugh kept smiling throughout the clip, and even thanked his trainer for the no-doubt uncomfortable section of his work out.
Hugh captioned the clip: “If you’re looking for me. I’m #becomingwolverineagain.”
The Australian actor has been keeping fans well up-to-date with his training regime, and recently shared his insanely strict diet on social media.
Hugh announced in September that he would be back as the claw-wielding character for Deadpool 3, with longtime frenemy Ryan Reynolds back at the helm as the r-rated anti-hero.
Hugh played Wolverine in nine films within the X-Men franchise and supposedly retired from playing him five years ago in the standalone movie, Logan.
For several years, the rights to the X-Men franchise have been owned by Fox, so characters have never crossed over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is now produced by Disney. However, Fox was recently acquired by Disney in 2019 and fans have since speculated (and prayed) that the X-Men could now be making an appearance in Marvel movies.
While getting completely jacked for a role, and quickly, can raise some eyebrows, Hugh recently dispelled the long-standing rumour about how he used to prepare in the original X-Men days.
It had been suggested Hugh had taken some performance-enhancing drugs, or steroids, in a bid to get buff for the X-Men franchise, but in a January interview on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace, Hugh finally set the record straight.
During the interview, Hugh was asked: “Over the years people have wondered, did he juice? Did he take steroids?”
Hugh then quickly responded: “No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I’ve got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that.
“And I was like, “I don’t love it that much”. So no, I just did it the old-school way.”
Deadpool 3 is set to be released on 8th November.
