You never know what’s going to go viral but one thing that you can guarantee is cuteness, especially relating to animals, gets a lot of attention. The old adage cats get clicks is an adage for a reason.
The Japanese have a word for this cuteness, it’s “kawaii” and there’s nothing more cute and viral on Japanese social media right now than a 24 hour live stream from a Dutch seal sanctuary!
Say hello to The Zeehonden Center in Pieterburen is one of the premier seal hospitals in Northern Europe. They take in sick or injured seals, and handle them in such a way as to maximise the chances of preserving their wild instincts.
I've visited a similar place not far from Skegness and can testify to the incredible cuteness of a baby seal sausaging around the pool and looking at you with those huge puppy dog eyes.
Last Thursday the live feed was shared by one person and within 24 hours, 14 million people had seen it and donations started flooding into their bank account.

I’ve shared so many stories here about dogs sniffing out everything from cancer to Covid. The latest is pretty mind blowing and has saved the lives of at least future mental health of a lot of children.
A doctor who treats children in Ecuador is currently facing a 30-year prison sentence for creating explicit content involving minors—and his prosecution is thanks to Rosco, the electronic sniffer dog.
Rosco is a new breed of sniffer dog that’s trained to detect hard drives. Even SD cards. These things are so easy to hide and if you’ve got something to hide then chances are it’ll never get found, but now Rosco and dogs like him can sniff out a hard drive, a thumb drive, a camera, or a USB stick like a needle in a haystack and when he does, it’s often vital evidence that’ll put evil people behind bars where they belong. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force are having so much success with their K9 program that similar organisations around the world are calling them for advice.

This good news story comes from one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met. Abi Evans, a teenager whose rare genetic condition which leaves her wheelchair bound and unable to digest food like we do, caught the attention of Rod Stewart, who is paying for her to have potentially life saving stem cell treatment in the US.
Abi was herself a good news story because she’s aiming to be the first commercial airline pilot in a wheelchair. But Abi got in touch to ask us to give a mention to her friend Debs, who is 55 and from Derbyshire.
Debs is running across Scotland in an ultra marathon on saturday, she leaves at 6am and is going to run 215 miles in 100 hours or less. Abi met Debs on the Chris Evans Breakfast show when they were both guests. Deb raised over £4000 for MND and the charity that helps Abi fly last year and this year she’s running for the peer to peer mental health charity, My Black Dog, for whom she’s not fundraising, but representing, for much needed awareness. Debs had to quit midway through the race through injury last year and this year, she’s doing it to show to everyone, mostly herself, that she’s no quitter.
