What’s the worst chocolate in a tub of Celebrations? If you think it’s the Bounty, then you’re not alone, as a recent survey found that 52% of people leave the mini coconut bars until last, and 32% just chuck them away completely.
Indeed, so many people agree that the Bounty is the least desirable chocolate in a Celebrations selection that a return scheme has been launched, meaning that its makers, Mars Wrigley, are willing to take back all of the unwanted Bounty bars from your tub of Celebrations.
And not only can you return them but, as part of the Bounty return scheme which is launching in January 2022, you’ll be able to swap them for the king of the Celebrations, Maltesers Teasers. That sounds like a good deal to us!
The Bounty return scheme is set to roll out across selected Co-op stores in Glasgow, London and Manchester from the 17th January next year.
Celebrations have launched the scheme - which uses the #LonelyBounty hashtag on social media - with a brilliant advert, demonstrating the nation’s dislike of the coconut/chocolate bar.
The clip shows a Bounty unable to make a match online, sitting alone on a park bench, failing to make a connection at a party, and being stood up for a dinner date.
We then see the lonely bar crying on the sofa.
However, the funny yet surprisingly emotional ad has a happy ending, when an equally lonely Brussels Sprout - widely accepted to be the worst of all the vegetables - turns up at his door...
Cemre Cudal, Mars Wrigley's Head of Christmas, said: “Our film highlights a love affair between two outsiders - Bounty and Sprout. The unlikeliest of couples but, nonetheless, a love for the ages. I defy anyone not to fall in love with Bounty after they watch this heart-breaking film.”
She added: "And if after all that, you still can't bring yourself to love a Bounty this Christmas, we'll take them back as part of our Bounty Return Scheme in January. Because no Bounty should be left alone at the bottom of a Celebrations tub."

This new ad is not the first time that the nation’s dislike of Bounty bars has been represented on screen. There’s a scene in the first Gavin and Stacey Christmas special where Nessa and Dave Coaches give everyone a present of a single Celebrations chocolate. When Gwen reveals that her chocolate is a Bounty, Nessa tells her: “You drawn the short straw there, I’m not gonna lie to you.”
Follow the #LonelyBounty hashtag on social media to keep up to date with the scheme.
