Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai married her partner, cricket executive Asser Malik.
She announced the happy news on her Twitter account.
Malala is a Pakistani human rights campaigner, who was shot by the Taliban for wanting an education.
She shared a series of happy photos with her followers.
Yousafzai wrote: “Today marks a precious day in my life.”
“Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers.”
“We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead,” she added.
Yousafzai was shot on her way home from school in Pakistan’s Swat Valley in 2012.
She was brought to Birmingham for medical treatment and her family eventually joined her there.
Her father told the Daily Mail that Malala will be spending the first few days of married life on the sofa watching the cricket with her new husband.
He also revealed it was a small wedding, with only 12 guests invited.
Mr Yousafzai said: 'We are delighted for Malala and Asser but like so many Pakistanis, they are cricket mad.
'On Thursday, we will all be watching Pakistan in the semi-final and that includes Malala and Asser, even though they have just got married.”
He added: “They will be at home in front of the television closely following the game. It's a huge match and none of us want to miss it. We are all praying for a Pakistan victory.'
Yousafzai became the youngest Nobel laureate back in 2014, when she shared the Peace Prize with Indian children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi. Her father continued: 'It was a very simple affair which was arranged at the last minute. We didn't want to hire a big venue and invite hundreds of people but I'm sure we will hold a large party at some stage in the future.”
The couple met through a shared love of cricket.
Fans rushed to share their congratulations and best wishes for the happy couple.
