Do you remember the days of the Walkman?

Carrying around your favourite album on cassette tape has been a thing of the past - until now.

The device revolutionised portable music when it was released back in 1979, and more than four decades later Sony has released a Walkman designed for the modern age.

Fans have already been using apps to turn their phones into iPods, but now they can try the Sony Walkman NW-A306.

Sadly for cassette fans, this won't play your tapes but it does work for MP3s and streaming.

It comes with a 3.6-inch touchscreen and has buttons on the side for changing volume or skipping tracks.

It also runs on an Android operating system.

It can run apps and you can browse the internet with Google Chrome, however it isn't a smartphone and can't be used for calls or messages.

So retro!

It comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and uses artificial intelligence to upscale compressed digital music to a higher quality.

This is one for the audiophiles.

It has a 36-hour battery life and comes with 32GB of storage for offline music.

Be warned though, it doesn't come cheap.

On release in the UK it will set you back a huge £349.

Vinyl records are reaching record sales each year, and many artists are also releasing cassette tapes.

Many fans are hoping for a cassette tape version to come back.

We can only cross our fingers for more retro music devices to thrive once more.
