There's nothing worse than when you're trying to butter your breakfast toast only to gouge whacking great holes in it.

When the butter is too cold from the fridge it can be impossible to spread smoothly, especially if your toast has gone a bit cold.

People have long been sharing their tips and tricks for the best toast, but one woman has shared a genius hack in TikTok.

Jessica Fox is an athlete on TikTok, and her unique method of buttering toast has gone viral.

She uses the block to butter her toast, the same way you would use a gluestick.

Jessica doesn't bother portioning it, or even using a knife.

Instead, she swiped the whole block of butter over the toast so it melts and doesn't need any other implements to achieve the perfect spread.

She shared the method to her account @jessfoxcanoe.

She says: ‘So this is how I butter my toast. It might be a little bit controversial. Does it make you feel uncomfortable or am I a genius?’

‘It’s just easier, no clumps of butter or holes in the bread. surely I’m not the only one?’

Her hack hasn't gone down well with everyone, with some saying it has "bothered" them about the thought of crumbs.

Others praised it.

One person said: ‘That’s not a bad idea. I now need butter and toast butter so I don’t transfer any crumbs on to other things that’s not toast.’

Another added: ‘It gets the job done, and saves on washing a knife. Genius.’
