Footballing legend Eric Cantona has embarked on a career in music and teased his debut single.

The former Manchester United player announced he would be trying his hand at singing on Instagram on Thursday (25th May), after sharing a preview of the music video for his upcoming single.

In the clip, Cantona can be seen posing with a model of his own as he sings, “Watch yourself in the mirror – someone you hate, someone you love”.

The new track, which was written and composed by Cantona himself, is set for release next Friday (2nd June) and will mark his first official single as a musician.

In the caption, he directed followers to his website for more information and simply wrote: “I’m going to release my first single.”

When on the website, fans are encouraged to join the CantonaSingsEric club to create their own membership cards and receive access to meet and greets with the footballer-turned-singer, as well as “privileged access” to live events.

To kick off his new career, Cantona has also announced three upcoming live shows in the UK and Ireland. The first of the Cantona Sings Eric shows will take place in Manchester at Stoller Hall on 26th October and the second at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on 28th October before finishing up in Dublin’s Liberty Hall Theatre on 31st October.

In an announcement of the tour, Cantona said: “Next year, I’ll be playing with a band, but for now, I’m starting with a modest piano to play alongside me in intimate venues. I’ll be starting in Manchester because it’s a city that has stayed with me so much for the football, of course, but also the general atmosphere.”

Presale tickets for the shows will be available from 10am on Wednesday (31st May) and general sale will arrive at the same time on Friday (2nd June). You can find more information about tickets here.
