Ed Sheeran has apologised to fans after being forced to pull a concert at the last minute.

The singer-songwriter was due to play in Las Vegas over the weekend, but the event was cancelled just hours before he was set to hit the stage.

Sheeran was scheduled to play at the Allegiant Stadium on Saturday night (9th September) in the US city, but there were production issues in the build up to the show.

Taking to Instagram to share the bad news, he wrote: “I can’t believe I’m typing this but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load in of our vegas show. It’s impossible to go forward with the show. I’m so sorry.”

He continued: “I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it.”

However, the artist did advise ticketholders of a new date. “The gig will be postponed to Saturday October 28th and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date,” he added, before reiterating: “I’m so, so sorry x”.

Meanwhile, Ed has announced two very special shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall later this year, at which he will play his upcoming new album, Autumn Variations, in full.

With the album - his second of 2023 - landing on 29th September, he will play the iconic London venue on the 18th and 19th November, where he will be joined by a live band as well as a string section.

Fans who pre-order the album before 3pm on 13th September can get presale access, while tickets go on general sale on 15th September.

After teasing a surprise second LP of the year last month, he announced it and explained the inspiration behind it, saying: “My dad and brother told me about a composer called Elgar, who composed Enigma Variations, where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends.”

Revealing that, “last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes”, he said “when I learned about my friend's different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time.”

Autumn Variations will be released on 29th September.
