It's a Sin star Olly Alexander has taken to social media to react to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Despite finishing in 18th place with 46 points - and receiving the dreaded null points from the public vote - the Years & Years star clearly wasn’t bitter, and shared his congratulations with the winner on his Instagram Stories.

With Olly’s track Dizzy not doing the business for the UK, the competition was won by Switzerland’s Nemo.

British actor and singer Olly wrote on Insta: “Nemo !!! You did it !! I'm so so proud of you. It's been such an honour to be on this journey with you. You broke the code."

Meanwhile, Olly’s dad, David Thornton, has spoken about his son's efforts, saying: “It's a real surprise the public didn't sort of connect with that song, though the juries gave it a really good score."

He told the BBC that he “enjoyed every minute” of Olly's performance, and said: “It's one more step to wherever he's going.”

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest took place in Malmö, Sweden, following 2023's triumphant entry from Loreen. Next year, the competition will move to Switzerland after Nemo scored a whopping 591 points for their performance of The Code.

Speaking after their win, Nemo said: “I want to say thank you so much, I hope this contest can live up to its promise and continue to stand for peace, and thank you to every person in this world."

Their moment of glory, however, took a comedic turn when they accidentally broke their trophy.

Croatia came second with Baby Lasagne, scoring 547 points, while Ukraine's Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil finished third with 435 points.

Ireland's Bambie Thug did well in both the jury and public vote, picking up 278 points and coming in sixth.

The Eurovision final is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
