It's the good news fans have been waiting patiently for - new music is on the way from Arctic Monkeys!

Their manager, Ian McAndrew told Music Week the good news. They asked what Alex Turner and Co have been up to this year apart from releasing the Royal Albert Hall concert for charity.

He says: “They’re working on music. In this rather disjointed time, the guys are beavering away and I hope that next year they’ll start working on some new songs, new ideas, with a view on a future release."

The pandemic put paid to the band's original plans for this summer: “There were recording plans in the summertime that got canned as a result of the travel restrictions.”

It's been a weird year for all of us but McAndrew says 2020 eventually provided an opportunity for the band to work on the follow up to 2018's

He explained: “If you’re literally locked down, you’re going to knuckle down to some work at home, and that’s what’s been going on,”

Asked whether he's heard any of the new tunes yet, Andrew said: “When the restrictions permit I do get along to have a listen to what’s going and to check out some new ideas, which is always very exciting.”

It won't be a quick process though says Andrew, while the pandemic restrictions are still in place:  “I’m hoping that next year, when the restrictions lift, we’ll be able to get together and get on with it.”

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long!
